Waad Academy’s vision is to provide a holistic education to all its children, nurturing their heart, mind, and body within a world-class learning environment. Inclusive education is central to this vision. It means ensuring that all students — regardless of their learning profile, ability, or background — have equal access to high-quality learning in an environment where they are safe, valued, and respected.
This commitment is grounded in both international frameworks — including the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities — and the Kingdom’s own educational direction under Vision 2030, which identifies inclusive education as a priority for meeting the needs of all students within mainstream schools.
Waad Academy provides both full and partial inclusion, ensuring that the model of support is matched to each student’s individual needs:
INTEGRATED LEARNING (Full Inclusion): Students with SEND are integrated into mainstream classrooms throughout the entire school day. Any necessary additional support is provided within the classroom, ensuring a seamless learning experience aligned with the standard curriculum.
TARGETED SUPPORT (Partial Inclusion): Students with SEND spend part of their day in designated classes, benefiting from customised interventions and additional support services. These classes provide targeted assistance, ensuring students receive the individualised attention they require.
Waad Academy currently accepts students with the following Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), across a spectrum from mild to moderate presentations:
Learning Disabilities & SPLD: Including dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, and language processing disorder. Support is calibrated to the level of need — from scaffolded quality-first teaching through to structured specialist intervention.
ADHD: Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, across inattentive, hyperactive, and combined presentations. Provision focuses on structured routines, classroom adjustments, and targeted support where needed.
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
: Addressing social communication, sensory processing, and flexibility of thought. Students benefit from predictable environments, sensory-aware classrooms, and graduated support aligned to their individual profile.
Eligibility
: Students with a formal diagnosis, identified needs — sensory, physical, speech delay — or suspected needs reported by school personnel are eligible for SEN support. Need is reviewed regularly; it is not treated as fixed.
Waad Academy operates a three-tier provision model, ensuring that the level of support is proportionate to each student’s needs and is co-ordinated effectively across the school:
Structured, targeted group or individual support for students with identified moderate needs. SENCO co-ordination and external referral where appropriate.
Intensive specialist provision for students with complex or significant needs, including access to speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and psychological support. Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) are considered or in place at this level.
The SEN framework ensures that curriculum design takes account of diverse learning profiles from the outset. Teachers are supported with the knowledge and tools to adapt their practice, so that inclusion is embedded in daily teaching rather than added on as an afterthought.
Every student at Waad Academy — whatever their learning profile — is entitled to provision that meets their needs. The SEN department ensures that this entitlement is realised: through skilled teaching, appropriate support, and a school culture in which all learners are genuinely valued.
“Inclusive education at Waad Academy is not a policy position — it is a daily practice, grounded in the belief that every child’s potential is worth the investment.”
