Waad Academy’s auditorium hosted ‘Waad Plays’ last week! Grade 8 students presented a captivating production of Neil Gaiman’s ‘Coraline,’ while the Grade 9 students followed suit with Lewis Carroll’s timeless classic, ‘Alice in Wonderland.’
The Grade 8 production of ‘Coraline’ masterfully brought to life the fantastical world of Coraline. The student directors, Layla Sharif and Eleen Alfuray skilfully guided the audience through Coraline’s journey into a seemingly perfect but sinister parallel world. The set design, complete with a buttonhole door and eerie button-eyed Other Mother, effectively conveyed the play’s unsettling atmosphere. The young actors delivered outstanding performances, portraying Coraline’s courage and resilience in the face of danger.
The Grade 9 production of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ transported the audience down the rabbit hole into a whimsical world of talking animals, tea parties, and nonsensical riddles.
Boys’ school students also performed a play called “Restoring Our Glory” on stage. Which embodied the image of King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud and his faithful followers after they left Riyadh, and what happened from destruction and devastation throughout the country after their departure. King Abdulaziz was able to restore the country, unify it, and spread security and safety in it. Our students were successful in telling this tale and giving it life for the audience.
