At Waad Academy, safeguarding is central to everything we do. Every adult in the building is trained and certified in safeguarding and child protection, and our systems are built to ensure that every student is known, protected, and supported.

Prevention

A safe environment built on clear expectations, staff vigilance, and a culture where every student knows they can speak up.

Recognition

All staff are trained to identify signs of concern and know exactly how to act on them.

Referral

Structured referral pathways and formal child protection policies ensure concerns are handled with care, accountability, and urgency.

Recovery

Pastoral support and social-emotional learning ensure students have the tools and trusted adults they need to thrive.

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead and trained deputy team provide accountable leadership across all child protection matters. Safer recruitment standards apply to every appointment, and our policies — covering everything from online safety to whistleblowing — are reviewed annually and accessible to all families.

Our Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) programme runs across all year groups, helping students develop self-awareness, resilience, empathy, and the confidence to seek help when they need it. Every student has a named adult who knows them, and our school counsellor is available to all.

A network of cameras allows the Academy to monitor the sensitive and crucial areas in our big campus to provide a safe environment for learners

Dismissal system:
School dismissal system also known, as a school transportation system, connects schools, teachers, and parents through real-time tools to make dismissals safer, and more efficient. The system opens the lines of communication, allowing parents to have better control over who picks up their children and when.
